Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor or visiting instructor position. The position is for the 2017-2018 academic year, with possibility for a 1-year renewal.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the areas of thermodynamics, heat transfer, combustion, and general engineering. The successful candidate will be required to teach four courses of 3 or 4 credit hours per semester. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

CSU is a major urban university with partnerships with several industrial corporations and the NASA Glenn Research Center. The Washkewicz College of Engineering traces its roots back to 1923 as Fenn College and has since maintained its reputation for excellence in engineering education and research. The college was renamed in 2013 to Washkewicz College of Engineering in honor of the transformative gift from Donald and Pamela Washkewicz and the Parker Hannifin Foundation. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers doctoral and master’s degrees and ABET-accredited bachelor’s degrees. Faculty areas of expertise include robotics, biomechanics, manufacturing, automation, thermal/fluids and energy systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Experience in teaching undergraduate mechanical engineering courses in the area of thermal/fluids, energy and combustion systems, experience in teaching laboratory courses, excellent communications skills and industrial experience and the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
