Job Summary

Dean’s Office Liaison with Provost’s and President’s Office, with department Chairs, with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of General Counsel, the Office of Research, Facilities Management, and the University Space Committee. Dean’s Liaison with Committees on Professional Leaves, Faculty Affairs, Peer Review, and Budget and Planning for travel allocations;
Review and prepare recommendations to the Dean on: Promotion/tenure dossiers, electronic Faculty Annual Activity Reports (eFAARs), and workload guidelines;
Administrative oversight of: Tenure-track, lecturer, and visiting faculty recruitment and appointments, faculty overload teaching requests, waiver requests for part-time faculty teaching limits, requests for exchange visitors, faculty summer exchange teaching assignments, emeritus/emerita status, extension of tenure decision dates, initial appointments of single term part-time faculty;
Dean’s designee for AAUP Level II grievances;
New faculty orientation to promotion/tenure review and faculty development opportunities in the College and the University;
Promote grant seeking in the College and provide Dean’s Office approval for grant proposals;
Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Minimum Qualifications

Tenured faculty member in a CLASS department;
Knowledge of procedures, policies, and regulations of the College and the University;
Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively;
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, professional staff, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications

Rank of Full Professor;
Successful experience dealing with faculty issues on College and University Committees, and/or with professional staff, department chairs, and University administrators;
Experience reviewing tenure and promotion applications at department, College, or University level;
Successful grant-writing and grant management experience.
