Job Summary

Performs a wide range of detailed and complex accounting and advisory functions pertaining to effective and efficient management of sponsored project accounts from federal, state, local, and other external funders. Ensures that the University is compliant with all University and sponsor policies, regulations, and requirements. Ensures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, federal and sponsor regulations, and University policies and objectives. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis in accounting. Must have 4-6 years of experience in accounting using computerized accounting systems. Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, resolve unusual problems, and devise innovative procedures to improve operational efficiency. Ability to explain financial statements to non-accountant users. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Technical proficiency in use of word processing, spreadsheet and database software packages (Microsoft Office products).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in auditing, monitoring, or implementing compliance and sponsor agreements from private, local, federal, state and other external funders. Certified Public Accountant. Experience working with 2 CFR Part 200, Subpart F audits. Experience directly communicating information about financial and administrative matters to management. Experience in fund accounting. Certified Research Administrator.
